About Stephen Lane

I wasn't always a photographer, you know. Before this, I used to refer to myself as a musician or a guitar player, to say the least. However, it was my love of music that led to my photography. In early April 2017, some friends and I were headed to Coachella, a music and arts festival out in the California desert. I remember telling my mom that I wished I had a camera to document this incredible experience with. The next thing I knew, she handed me her old Canon Ae-1 35mm film camera and said, "Take this!"

Just like that, I was on my way to Coachella with a camera in hand, unknowingly about to learn the biggest photography lesson of my life. Check to make sure the camera works properly before using... Needless to say, I never checked the shutter to see if it was working, which led to all but one of my pictures being destroyed. That one picture I have from my time at Coachella is what motivates me to pursue photography. My plan now is to continue to learn from my mistakes while capturing life's moments through the lens of my camera.
